The DIABETES ESSAY AND POEM COMPETITION is a yearly event for young persons with diabetes. It is organized by this website. The first competition was in 2008 to commemorate 10 years of DRWILLEM on the WWW. The competition was an instant succes and already many young persons have sent in their their contribution. Originally only essays could be sent in, since 2009 also poems are welcome. The details of the competition can be seen in the frame further down on this page.

From 2010 there are three age categories:

up to 12 years (young children in primary school),

12-18 years (teenagers in secundary school),

18-25 years (young adults in or out of education).

2008
This was the first year of the competition. Only essays could be contributed; and so they were. Maximum age was 18 years. Also friends or erelatives could send in an essay.

DIABETES ESSAY AND POEM COMPETITION 2010
Again this year DRWILLEM organises a competition for young person with diabetes. The 2010 COMPETITION will be open for ESSAYS and POEMS from young persons with diabetes up to the age of 25 years.

There are nice prizes: £200, £150, £100, £50, £20 and £10 with £100 for the winner's hospital.

The competition will be completely web based. ESSAYS and POEMS can only be submitted through the website. All entries will be published on the web site. The jury will be web based and consists of the readers of this site. ESSAYS and POEMS can be sent in from 1st January until 30th June 2010. The menu on the left side will guide you through it all.
