DIABETES ESSAY AND POEM COMPETITION 2009

Rachael 17/07 11 Why me?

Why?

Why do I have to inject myself?
Why can’t I eat sugary snacks?
Why must I prick my finger to make it bleed?
Why me? Why me? Why me?

Why do I feel shakey?
Why must I feel sick?
Why Can’t I run without having to eat?
Why me? Why me? Why me?

Why are there millions of children all over the world like me?
Why must we be told “no you can’t have that”?
Why do we have to be different?
Why us? Why us? Why us?

Why should I feel sad?
Why should complain?
I’m here and I am loved
So maybe I think again and ask
Why not? Why not? Why not?
