DIABETES ESSAY AND POEM COMPETITION 2009

Rebecca 15/05 14 A Price to Pay

Although my sugar levels are in control,
Each day I have to pay a toll.
Four or five injections a day,
Is the price I have to pay.
I'm a normal, happy, healthy girl
But with less insulin in my cells.
My friends accept me for who I am,
Even if I can't have a scone and jam.
I try not to let diabetes get me down
Or look at my life with a frown.
My Mum and Dad are always there
even when I start to despair.
I owe it all to my parents;I really do,
Together, somehow, we'll make it through.
