DIABETES ESSAY AND POEM COMPETITION 2009

Penny 28/04 12 Me and My Companion

I have a companion,
It’s with me all the time,
I have a companion,
And it is all mine.

It’s called diabetes,
It’s not such a great friend,
It’s called diabetes,
It seems to have no end.

Blood checks every day,
My fingers are all red,
Blood checks every day,
Even when I’m in bed.

It’s hard to control it,
But I use insulin,
It’s hard to control it,
Injections hurt my skin.

It is my whole life,
Hurry to find a cure,
It is my whole life,
Nothing I want more.
