DIABETES ESSAY AND POEM COMPETITION 2009

Lucy 24/04 11 Diabetes

Diabetes, what can I say
It’s the same every day,
Bloods, Insulin, breakfast (can’t go low)
Sometimes I still do though.

Down to school with my mates,
Walk right through the school gates.
Across to form, meet my class,
It’s just across the patch of grass.

Oops, went a bit low in history,
I don’t know why it’s a mystery.
Just had some sweets and carried on
A few minutes after it had completely gone!

Lunch time now, have to eat enough,
Don’t want to repeat the History stuff.
I only have two injections a day
Some people have four, I’m lucky to get away!

Final lesson, few what a bore!
Waiting at home for me…chore after chore!
Last injection, insulin pen
Until tomorrow…when it all starts again!
