DIABETES ESSAY AND POEM COMPETITION 2009

Ryan 10/03 16 Diabetes

Two million people fact.
Two million people live day in day out with diabetes.
Me just a single one of them.
Insignificant?
Group me a in a room
With all these people and perhaps I wont feel so different.
So segregated from my friends and family.
Why me?
Please do tell me how many people you know,
Who have to inject themselves everyday,
And will have to for the rest of their lives?
Not so many?

Take extra care,
Keep healthy and active.
Do things that normal people wouldn’t have to do.
Worrying that maybe there could be complications,
seven years I had to live a normal life.
Then with in a second it had changed
No one will ever understand.
Not unless you have been there
