In search of the cure.
text

when i was five i was diagonosed with type one diabetes. Yes it is scary to be told you have something that you didn't even know exsisted in the first place and yes it is frightening to be told you will be reliant on insulin for the rest of your life but it isn't the end of the world. We are fortunate that we live in the day and age where there are medications that allows us to live as we do, there are other much worse conditions we could have had.

i am lucky enough to be able to sense my sugar dropping very well. I know that some people aren't as lucky as me i have know other diabetic to go into hospital care because of constantly high sugar readings.

There are other complications that come with having diabeties. For me i used to get low during the night when i couldn't feel my sugar dropping. A few times i have quite sever hypos during the early hours of the morning, now everday i check that my blood sugar is above 10 to avoid that situation again.

I have also recently changed to four injections a day at the moment i haven't got used to the change and my sugar is constantly in the teens but like everything i will adapt.

I live in hope that one day a cure more permanant than insulin will be found. I also live in knowledge that i have the comfort and support of my family and friends behind me and i know that one day if we work together we will find a cure.

Thank you for reading my story and i hope i have given you some advice that will help you in the years to come.
