hi im kelly-marie curtis i am 14 and a half years old and i had got diagnoised on august 1997 i have suffered really badly because in 2003 i had really high ketones and had been put into frimley park hospital over christmas and then got transfered to guys in london,nut ealry on in this year i had suffered really badly with my diabetes because i was really ill i had to go into AnEbecasue i had terrible back and chest pains and couldnt walk it is very hard being a diabetic because all my mates are aloud to eat all this stuff but im not and i find it difficult doing all my doses a day i have diabetes really bad beacuse i take over 120units a day. sometimes i feel left out when i go out with my mates because they can have all the sweets and things like that but they dont have much for diabetics to pick out and after a while you get bored of eating the same things.
i sometimes say to my parents that i wished i never had diabetes but sometimes i am glad i have them because it m,akes me who i am and that i am diffrenet to everyone else.
sometimes i have people look at me funny in public so i feel very concious when i do my insulin bcuase people just sit there watching you.
i can give people advise on diabees because i have had it for almost 11years. if you want to loose wieght then it is a really good idea to go on holiday and swim with dolphins because it helps people with diabetes, sometimes people miss a dose of there insulin because it makes you loose wieght but it is a very very bad idea because if you miss one insulin dose a day you will loose sight in yhur eyes and can become deaf of it as well so i advise poeple not to do that.
