DIABETES ESSAY AND POEM COMPETITION 2010

Hannah 24/04 12 Diabetes and Me.

Diabetes came to me one year ago
Causing me pain, sadness and woe.

This last year has been a hard road,
With highs, lows and needles my load

Diabetes may have pulled me down,
but it only rarely makes me frown

Having a needle every day,
“Doesn’t it hurt” people say

At first it was like a big, dark cloud
But Mum and Dad are so very proud

Because I have come such a long way
I will always be their hero, they say

I am a diabetic it can’t be undone,
but you know what I’ll make it fun

The journey has been easier, I’ve found
Because of having friends around

I know I’m not the only one, for sure
But I hope and pray one day for a cure
